The biggest selling early laptop took place in 1983 with the developing of the Kyotronic 85. The Alan Kay’s Dynabook concept was also similar to the laptop and it was developed by Xerox PARC in the early 1970's. The first commercially available portable laptop was possibly the Osborne 1, in 1983, and it used the CP?M operating system. The first commercial IBM compatible laptop was the Kaypro 2000, which was developed and introduced in 1985. It has an aluminum clamshell case. The first order of laptop computers on a large scale was the order from the U. S. Air Force in 1987. The order eventually led to the purchase of over 200,000 laptops. There are many different brands of computers and this order may have caused a conflict among the company who got the order and some of the competitors. Some of the most popular computers today are the Dell, Gateway, Hewlett Packard, Apple, and many more. The laptop computer suffers more wear and tear than the desktop because it is moved so much. If there is something spilled on a laptop, it damages more than just the keyboard. The other components inside it may also be damaged and there is the possibility of an expensive repair bill. With the desktop computer, it does not cost much to repair the keyboard if something is spilled on it.
